At the tide pool.

Up close with the starfish.

Jericho endured touching the starfish for two seconds.

The kids loved all the different kinds of fish.

Herkimer

Today, my boys spent the morning with Grandma Wendell while I went to the doctor. Afterwards, when the boys were playing at home, Jericho called Ransom, "Herkimer." Recalling this name from my youth, I asked if Grandma had called him "Herkimer" today. When Jericho answered, "No," I jokingly asked if he thought it would be a good name for the new baby. Jericho looked at me like I was crazy (which I expected for suggesting such a silly name.) His reply however, "No, a 'Herkimer' is something you eat!" Didn't see that one coming.

Little Jumper

Ransom loves getting on the trampoline. He has been watching his big brother and sister, so now he is getting the hang of jumping instead of just running around.

It's a....

Girl!
At least, that's what the tech thinks. The baby did not cooperate too well, but she didn't see anything to prove otherwise. This baby is quite mellow compared to the other kids. Usually when I have an ultrasound, the babies flip all over. This one only kicked a little and seemed quite satisfied in the position that she was in. The good news is that we can now move the crib out of the boys' room and put it in Hero's. Ransom has started to sleep in his "big boy" bed. He is doing quite well. He likes to get out of bed in the morning and run in to our room to wake us up. I guess I can get rid of my alarm clock.

Making Money

Hero is becoming a world class tooth-puller-outer. You don't even know she has a loose tooth until she is in the bathroom working on it. Five minutes later she has yanked the tooth out. She has pulled out a total of four so far. We are slightly worried that she might be ripping them out to get money. Hero, of course, knows that Daddy is the one that puts money under her pillow. We have been completely upfront with our kids concerning things like this. However, Jericho doesn't seem to understand the whole tooth-under-the-pillow thing.
Sunday afternoon when I went to lay down for my nap, I found under my pillow a coffee scoop. I had no doubt who put it there (Jericho had been pretending it was a spaceship earlier) but I didn't know why it was there. When I asked my son about it, he replied shyly, "I was just trying to make you some money."

Valentine's Day Box

For Valentine's Day, Hero's class had a box decorating competition. I covered the box in the green paper, but Hero did the rest of the cutting, gluing, stickers, etc. Her work paid off. She got second place! Her prize was a gift certificate to Baskin Robbins.

Party Every Night

Every night at our house there is a party. More specifically, there is a party in only one room of our house. The only ones invited are two little boys and the festivities usually die down long before nine o'clock. I don't normally mind since both my sons have no trouble waking up early and neither is in school yet. Besides, if they have to share a room, shouldn't they enjoy it? The other night, however, Ransom was especially tired and fell asleep around seven. Jericho went in to bed a little before eight and he came out crying. When I asked what was wrong he replied, "Ransom is asleep and I can't wake him up. I want to play with him!" Needless to say, we had a little talk about respecting other's need for sleep.

Life

Jericho informed me in the car the other day that he needed to take karate.
When I questioned him as to why he thought this was necessary he replied, "Because my life is killing me!"
"What?" I questioned, a little shocked.
The clarified response, "I need to take karate because my elbow hurts so my life is killing me, okay!"
Not too sure where he got this concept, although I have been saying lately my head is killing me (because of sinus issues.)

Snow Day

Today we went with our Sunday school class up to Idyllwild to go sledding. All of the kids had a great time. A friend of ours let us borrow his "bike" sled which all three of our kids loved. Jericho became quite the pro at riding it even though he wouldn't even get on at first.

Jericho "cheezing" it up.

Ransom was just sitting on the sled playing, so I thought I'd snap a picture. The camera clicked as he was falling off!

More Snow Day Pics

While this wasn't Ransom's first time in the snow, it was the first time that he was able to enjoy it. He loved sledding! He cried when he had to get off the "bike" sled.
