Death to the Palms

Well, thanks to the help of my Dad and brother, Justin was able to bring the palm trees down that were in the corner of our yard. Unfortunately I was a little too anxious to get any pictures of Justin at the top of the taller tree, but he did climb and cut that one down too. Thankfully no one was hurt. ( Oh yeah, just add to the fun factor, the temperature at the time they were doing this was 94.)

Our Busy Day

Today was a fun filled day. First we went to the children's museum with our friends Matthew and Kaitlyn.

Then we went to Grandpa and Grandma "Choo-Choo's" for a swim.

Thanks to such a busy day the kids are both taking naps right now. This is okay with me since I need to rest before church this evening.

Little Nudist

I think my son is becoming a nudist. While I am proud that he can take his clothes off by himself, I don't like the fact that he does this whenever he wants. Most of the time it is after he goes potty. He must think that since he is half way undressed anyway he might as well take it all off. (Once again, I am thankful that he can go potty by himself; it's just that I don't appreciate the whole naked thing.) Since it is getting warmer I can understand the whole shedding of the clothes thing, but not all the clothes. Let's just hope that it is a phase he will grow out of fast. It is just a "phase," right?

Higher Still

Just in case you thought the last tree was high...

Up a Tree

We have to get rid of our palm trees. My husband is confident that he can accomplish this on his own. The first step is to get rid of all of the palm frawns. Although I am very proud of him, I am a little anxious about this whole thing.

Soap

Tonight on the way home from Bible study the kids were being a little unruly in the back seat. That is to say that they were sticking their tongues out at each other. When we got home they each got some soap in their mouth for doing so. As I was telling my husband why this happened he asked me the manner in which it was done. To do this, he stuck out his tongue. Jericho, upon seeing this, ran to the bathroom saying, "I get it. Soap." I went to the bathroom and asked him who the soap was for and he said, "Daddy."

Slip 'n Slide

Well, Hero enjoyed the Slip 'n Slide, but Jericho was a little more timid. Of course, Mommy threw him on a couple of times because she didn't want him to miss out on all the fun. He finally walked on it by himself after I turned the water off.

Signs of Summer

Okay, so I was a little late on the signs of Spring, but it is too early for Summer. Right? At this very minute my thermometer reads at 97 degrees (in the shade.) Today I bought my kids a Slip 'n Slide. We bought one last summer at a garage sale for $.50 but needless to say it came complete with preexisting holes.

Blessed Distractions

Hero's friend, Symone, was over today. While this is, of course, great fun for Hero it is also fun for Mommy. When the kids are distracted playing with their friend, I am actually able to get some things done. Jericho can even go longer than five minutes without crying when someone else is around.

Monday Ramblings

Well, I have gained my first pound for this pregancy. I am sure it has something to do with the two donuts I had at church yesterday. Other than that my ten minute doctor visit went great (if you don't count the hour and a half wait in the office.)
The highlight of my day was being able to spend time with my Grandmother. She took the kids and me out to McDonald's for lunch. We were able to talk while the kids played.
In garden news my basil has sprouted. While this is a miracle in itself, just pray that I don't kill it.

Signs of Spring

Well, thanks to the lovely weather we have been having, my roses are finally starting to bloom. I was a little worried that I might have killed them when I pruned them last month. The bush is not in the "urn" shape that it is supposed to be in, but it doesn't seem to matter too much. It seems beautiful even in it's haphazard way.

Heaven

On our way to the viewing of my Grandfather this afternoon, I was having a discussion with Hero over earthly bodies and heavenly bodies. We eventually got on the subject of how people get to Heaven. I asked Hero if everyone went to Heaven and she said no. When I questioned, "Why doesn't everyone get to go to Heaven?" she replied, "Because they're not dead yet." For a four year old she is actually quite logical.

Otter Pops

The weather was so warm today (above 90) that the kids got to enjoy some otter pops. I thought that it would be a distraction for them and I hoped to get some work done in the little time it should have taken them to finish them. Unfortunately, the kids had never eaten otter pops by themselves before and didn't know exactly what to do with them.

It took Hero a while to figure out how to push up the ice. By the time she did, she just had juice left.

Jericho lost about half of his on the ground.

Cozy finds a nice shady spot and waits for some cold pieces to fall.
