Field Trip to Legoland

Hero's class went to Legoland for their final field trip. Thankfully Daddy was able to go with her. They both had a great time.

After getting her face painted.

Jericho was already sad that he didn't get to go and this photo didn't help.

Ransom in Grandpa's Pool

Ransom didn't seem too thrilled about being in the water, but he loved the wave cruiser. He was able to push the button and somewhat steer to make it go.

Why....

....Mommy always needs to be on her toes!

For some reason whenever the sugar container is left on the table, Ransom seems to think it is okay to get into it. It is normally stored on the bottom shelf of the pantry, and he hasn't gotten into there. I guess out of sight; out of mind.

Planting Day

Today we got together with some families from church and planted flowers (in planters) at the park.

Jericho contributed about 2 scoops to this project before going back out to play on his scooter.

Hero got really involved in the project. The first planter we made is in the foreground. She made the second basket by herself.

After the park, we decided to go to Lowe's to work on a Mother's Day craft. They had already closed the activity down by the time we got there, but they gave us the kits to take home and make.

Tug-o-War

At the park today, Ransom saw that his friend, Grace, had the helmet that he wanted. Giving in to his sin nature, he decided to grab it and go. Unfortunately he underestimated Grace who was determined to win at all costs.

Ball Balancing

The other day I watched Ransom try for about 10 minutes to sit on his ball and play the piano. Today he finally accomplished it!

Science Projects

For Hero's science project, she and Daddy built a solar oven. The purpose of this is to demonstrate how we use the sun's light as energy. The best part about this project is that we hope to use the oven to cook with occasionally this summer.

New Carpet

After almost five years of living in this house, we finally got new carpet.

The color is similar to our old carpet, minus all the stains.

Kids on Wheels

Jericho loves his new scooter.

Hero, of course, has the need for speed.

Ransom thinks he can do it too.

Ransom has figured out a way to ride his trike.

Swine

Conversation during family devotions:
Daddy: "And the demons were cast into the herd of swine. What are swine?"
Hero: "It's something that you drink, but it's bad for you."

I think it's time to have a talk with Hero's Sunday School teacher.

Role Model

The other day, while driving home from school, Hero and I were having a discussion about what she could be when she grew up. She wanted to be a police officer. I said that was fine, but reminded her that the Bible makes it clear that a mother's first responsibility is her home.
Jericho then piped in that he could be a police officer and a dad. Because... "when you're a dad you have to work and you don't have hair."

Couch Night

On Friday nights we like to do something out of the ordinary with the kiddos. Last night we let them sleep on the sofa bed, eat icecream, and watch a movie. I'm not sure how Hero and Jericho could sleep with "wiggle boy" in the middle, but they endured. All of them lasted on the sofa bed until the morning; much to my surprise.

My Boys

Jericho loved using tools and helping Mommy paint the hallway.

Yes, they look peaceful now...

Daredevil Extreme

Having conquered the challenge of climbing his sister's loft bed and the ladder to Jericho's bunk, Ransom set out on a new feat. The obstacle...the changing table. The goal...to reach forbidden objects on the shelf above it.
After tucking Ransom in his bed, I retreated to my own room. A few minutes later I heard toys tumbling against a wall and Ransom's little "Uh Oh!" in response. Supposing he had just dropped some toys off his bed, I was shocked to walk in and and find him sitting on his changing table reading a book that had been sitting on the shelf! I am afraid to find out what his next death-defying act will be.

Thanks for the Oreos, Grandma!
